Leading Preservation Group Recognizes Preserve Orange County
June 24, 2018— One way Preserve Orange County fulfills its mission is by providing legal or other technical advice to local preservation organizations that are advocating for a site in their cities. Fullerton Heritage (FH) got POC involved to help them sort out the best way forward with the Plummer Auditorium. This beloved community resource is owned by the school district, and FH was concerned about plans the district had to renovate the building. They supported the goal of improving accessibility and ADA compatibility but didn’t want to see the building’s most historic features destroyed. POC board member, Deborah Rosenthal (pictured), worked with FH and others to devise a path forward for the district, with the result that the district agreed that it can meet its accessibility standards and retain the building’s historic and architectural integrity. At their annual meeting in 2018, Fullerton Heritage presented Deborah and Preserve Orange County with their Preservation Advocacy Award!
