Building Community Leadership in Preservation

With the goal of expanding our reach and extending our mission of promoting the conservation of the county’s historic resources, Preserve Orange County is launching a community leadership program in 2023. The program is a networking and an education opportunity for experienced residents and anyone who wants to be a more effective voice in their cities.

What is the Community Leadership Program? It’s an annual program organized by Preserve Orange County with the objective of supporting local groups and residents by providing resources such as a biannual networking and learning event.

What’s in it for Preserve Orange County? To get more people involved in preservation. To identify threats to historic resources earlier in the process.

Why participate? To network, learn, and ultimately protect historic resources.

Who should participate? Any resident of Orange County who cares about their city’s land-use decisions as they affect historic resources. Any resident who wants to see greater public understanding of the benefits of historic resources. If you are already attending public hearings and paying close attention to threats to historic resources, we hope you’ll participate. If you want to improve your skills or knowledge and get to know people in other cities who are interested in the same issues, we hope you’ll participate.

If you have questions about the Community Leadership program and/or you think you may be interested in coming to our information meeting, please contact Krista Nicholds at knicholds@preserveoc.org.
